Local Government’s role in Public Health Reform
Collaborative event in partnership with SOLACE, COSLA, Improvement Service and Scottish Government.
This event primarily targeted chief executives and senior leaders from across local government functions and responsibilities including economic development, planning, housing and environmental health. The event will also be of interest for Integration Authority chief officers and Community Planning managers.
Confirmed speakers include Aileen Campbell, Minister for Public Health and Sport, Councillor Peter Johnston, COSLA spokesperson for Health and Wellbeing and Paul Najsarek, Chief Executive Ealing Borough Council and SOLACE spokesperson for Community Wellbeing,
Outcomes:
Increase awareness and understanding of public health reform to support senior local authority leaders to describe local government’s contribution to Scotland’s public health priorities.
Apply awareness of reform to develop and describe a compelling vision for local government as part of a whole system approach to improve the public’s health.
Describe the opportunities and challenges to achieving this vision to inform relationship with a new public health body and future collaboration with local government on public health reform.
